Pheromones are sex attractants. Adult female insect which are ready for mating emit specific chemical odour to attract males. These specific chemical called Pheromones are synthesized and used for insect pest management in crops.

A corrugated sheet yellow sticky trap is an agricultural pest management tool made from durable, fluted plastic (polypropylene) coated with a non-toxic adhesive.¹ Unlike simple paper or thin film traps, the corrugated structure provides rigidity, making it weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor and greenhouse use.

• 2. How It Works

  The trap relies on chromotropic attraction (attraction to color):

  1. Lure: The specific shade of yellow reflects light in a way that attracts sap-sucking insects from a distance.

      

  2.  Trap: When the insect lands on the surface to investigate, it immediately gets stuck in the glue.

      

  3. Kill: The insect cannot escape and eventually dies. Since it captures the adult flying insects, it breaks the breeding cycle, preventing them from laying thousands of eggs.

  3. Target Pests

  Yellow sticky traps are a "broad spectrum" tool, primarily effective against:

  •  Whiteflies (Major target)

     

  •  Aphids (Greenfly/Blackfly)
